Protein-creatinine ratio, urine dipstick protein measures provide alternative CKD screening method

Protein-creatinine ratio and urine dipstick protein measures may provide an alternative method in screening for chronic kidney disease (CKD) when measuring albuminuria is not available, according to a study published in Annals of Internal Medicine.

This individual participant–based meta-analysis included more than 919,383 adults and found that urine protein-creatinine ratio (PCR) and dipstick protein is correlated to urine albumin–creatinine ratio (ACR) measurements and could potentially guide CKD screening, staging, and prognosis.
